Send a quarterly update
Once you're connected to HMRC, go to Taxes → Making Tax Digital. Each mapped business shows its open obligations, with the period, the due date and a Send update button.
Sending an update is a three-step check:
1. Figures. A table of every field HMRC's form asks for, built from your invoices, expenses, bills and payments for that period. Amounts are cumulative from the start of the tax year (or your quarter type's own start date), not just this quarter, because that's what HMRC's cumulative model expects.
2. Checks. Warnings, not blockers: bank transactions you haven't explained yet, expenses with no receipt attached, or records dated in the future. Nothing stops you sending regardless, but it's worth a look before you do. Tick the box to confirm you've checked the figures.
3. Send. BusyBee Hub sends the figures to HMRC and shows the result straight away: Accepted, with HMRC's own correlation ID for your records, or Rejected, with HMRC's exact message and, where we recognise the error, a plain-English pointer to what to fix.
After an accepted update, HMRC marks the obligation fulfilled (this can take up to an hour on HMRC's side) and calculates your tax position "in-year" from everything they've received so far, shown on the same page next to BusyBee Hub's own estimate, with the date the calculation is based on.
Every update you've sent stays on the page, with the payload and HMRC's response, so you can always check exactly what was sent and when.
